Charlie is the newest member of our family. Yes, he is a cat and most of you who know me are probably surprised by the fact that we now have one! Myself included!
He had been hanging around my Grandma's house for a while. One Saturday morning I stopped at my Gram's to drop the kids off and as I was leaving this cat was very sure he was coming with me. Well he was wrong, and yes I felt sorry for him as he was crying, rubbing all over me, trying to jump in my car and he was just skin and bones! That afternoon Steve and I went to pick the kids up. I made sure I went with him in case this cat was there...I wanted to be sure he wouldn't bring him home! When we pulled up, the cat wasn't there, I spotted him across the street and tried to hurry Steve and this kids in the truck, but before I knew it that cat was in my Gram's driveway making his way into the hearts of my children and husband! They BEGGED me to bring him home. I did feel terrible that he looked so bad and I do love animals, just don't love the idea of cat hair and litterboxes! I caved for about 30 secs and told them "we can take him home just to feed him, give him a drink and treat him for fleas", by the time we pulled into our driveway I was already regretting it a bit cause the kids were already thinking of a name for him and I just figured getting rid of him would be hard. We took him home and let him eat and drink...the cat was panting which the vet told us was a sign that he was severely dehydrated! You would've probably all paid money to see us give him a bath...I laugh everytime I think about it! Steve called me the Cat Whisperer and the Cat Wrangler hehe!
Needless to say by Monday Steve had an appointment to have him declawed and neutered and it looks like he is now a member of our family. I have to say that he is the best cat I could've asked for! He is amazing with the kids and Simon (our chihuahua). Lilly can pick him up and carry him anywhere and he just acts happy to have a home. He uses the litterbox like a champ and shedding hasn't been bad at all (so far)! Oh and I need to say Steve took on the responsibility of the cat since it was his idea, but I figured I would be taking care of him. Well I was WRONG, Steve feeds him, scoops his litterbox at least twice a day, changes the litter and disinfects the litterbox 1-2 times per week! Way to go hubby!!! I really can't complain...he has definately "grown on me" and I really do love him now!

Awe! I'm not a cat person but Charlie sure is adorable. I love the one where he's in the pet bed.
ReplyDeleteBelieve me D girl...I'm not a cat person either! I've always said I would NEVER have one...well guess one should never say never hehe! If we have to have a cat, I'm glad he's the one cause he's been great!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that Charlie is feeling lucky to be part of your family:) It cracks me up that he waits for Lilly in the stroller!
